PADI Enriched Air Diver Course

PADI Enriched Air Diver Course is regarded as the most popular PADI course.  Otherwise called Nitrox Diving, the PADI enriched air course trains you to dive with enriched air called nitrox.  Nitrox has more oxygen and lesser nitrogen content than the standard scuba tank.  This means that you can stay longer underwater and will have shorter surface intervals.

If you want to explore the marine life longer and more often than the usual, then the PADI Enriched Air Diving course is the right course for you.

Enriched Air Diver Course

The PADI Enriched Air Diving course consists of knowledge development and 2 nitrox dives.  You may enroll in PADI’s interactive eLearning option where you will have access to the enriched air diver manual pdf form.  You may also visit a dive shop and do classroom knowledge development.  You will be handed the PADI Enriched Air Diver manual to read and review.  In the classroom, you will be watching an introductory video by PADI, followed by a discussion of important topics, and concluded with the PADI enriched air diver exam.

Two nitrox dives will follow after you have completed the on-site lessons.

With the PADI enriched air manual and the diving lessons, you will learn about the following:

  • Nature of nitrox or enriched air diving;
  • The use of nitrox diving equipment;
  • Why diving with higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content allows you to stay longer underwater;
  • How to manage oxygen exposure;
  • How to check and analyze oxygen content in your SCUBA tank (o2 Analyzer);
  • How to set and use your dive computer for enriched air diving; and
  • Safety considerations of nitrox diving.

PADI Search and Recovery Diving Course Prerequisites

To enroll in the enriched air diver course, you have to be at least 12 years old with a PADI (Junior) Open Water diver certification.  Inquire with your dive site, since some locations require a higher minimum age requirement.

PADI Diver Search and Recovery Equipment

If you have modern diving equipment and dive computer, they may be used for enriched air diving.  Your instructor can tell you if they meet the requirements.   The SCUBA tank, however, must be dedicated for enriched air or nitrox diving.  The rest of the gear you may need to use shall be discussed by your instructor.

Taking the enriched air diver course would be a game-changing step to take in diving.  You will be able to explore the underwater with lesser interruptions and in lesser time.  It will allow you to enjoy your diving adventures more, especially with repetitive scuba dives.
