December 2011
Our repeating guest and underwater photographer Burkhard Ohlendorf who spent his holidays in Dauin last September, sent us some nice pictures. He was very lucky to see mating wunderpus. Thank you very much and congratulation to the nice shots!
As communicated already, by the end of 2011 the Sea Explorers team has to say good-bye to Martin Nussbaumer, long-time Sea Explorers co-owner and Manager of Cebu office as he is looking for a career change. During the past 11 years Martin and his wife Flor contributed a lot to the successful build up and operation of the company. We all, and certainly the ones of you who met Martin personally, will miss his open, friendly and entertaining nature as well as his professional manners. Thank you very much Martin and Flor for all your support over the years. We wish you all the best for your future.
His successor as Manager Cebu office is Pascale Meyner, who is already on duty since October. She has settled quickly and well in her new position and the new environment, where she can add her wide expertise and diving experience. At this point we would like to welcome Pascale again warmly in the Sea Explorers team.
We are looking forward to all the new challenges and experiences in the future and we will continue to dive with a smile!
Sea Explorers Philippines
Dear Divers, Guests, Friends, Business Partners and Philipinos
We are shocked about the destructive power of the tropical storm 'Washi', which killed many hundreds people on 17 December 2011 in the south of the Philippines. We feel deeply sorry for the many people who had to die and for all their relatives and friends who have to suffer. We wish all the affected people lots of strength for this difficult moments.
Luckily, Sea Explorers and its team was not directly affected by this tropical storm as it passed by more in the south.
Sea Explorers Philippines
We wish you a merry Christmas time!

September 1 is not only Sea Explorers birthday. Our friend Paolo of the Italian restaurant “La Buena Forchetta“ in Cebu City could celebrate as well and it wasn’t just a normal birthday, it was his 65th. Congratulation and all the best! Beside Chris and Rolf as well Sven from Malapascua and Martin of Schoener Tauchen Germany were under the congratulates.

As you might know, Jesse, our longtime dive guide in Dauin, suffered a stroke end of July. Fortunately, his condition improved during the last weeks and he can already walk without supporting aid and make jokes as in the good old days. We wish him to get well fast and hope to have him back in our team soon again.
July 2011
Beautiful picture taken end of July in Dauin by Andreas Niederer.
July-August 2011
As in the previous years the Swiss National Day celebration of the Visayan area took place in Marco Polo Plaza Hotel in Cebu City. About 180 guests consisting of Swiss expads, their friends and colleagues celebrated the special day with Swiss delicacies (incl. Cheese Fondue and Raclette), drinks, games and dancing. Our Swiss ambassador Ivo Sieber travelled especially for this event from Manila to Cebu and inflamed the bonfire together with Marco Polo GM Hans Hauri, the Jass Club Cebu president Karl Zweifel and our Martin.
We are very happy to announce that Sea Explorers and Chris Heim start a new cooperation with PADI Course Director Camille Lemmens. As of now, Camille will conduct PADI IDC's in conjunction with our PADI Career Development Centre (CDC) in Pura Vida Beach & Dive Resort in Dauin. The next IDC in Dauin will be starting on 20th October 2011 followed by an IDC starting 1st December 2011.
Camille has been awarded the prestigious 2011 Platinum Course Director rating by PADI for the fifth consecutive year running, since PADI Asia Pacific introduced this rating. It's the highest rating a PADI Course Director can achieve and a rating that is achieved by less than 57 of all PADI Course Directors worldwide.

DIVING RESORT TRAVEL EXPO JULY 08-10, 2011 IN HONG KONG
On the second weekend of July, Chris travelled to Hong Kong to represent Sea Explorers at the DRT Expo. Of course, he met some very familiar faces. Becky Chan, our helping angel on the spot, once again supported Chris during his visit. Thanks a lot to everybody for your continuous support!
Denny Wong of Wanderlust Vacations
On the July 5 manager meeting in cebu City we discussed about the past high season and did already some preparation for the coming 2011/12 season.
Good news from Malapascua. Almost all dive shops agreed on the further protection of Monad Shoal and funded the MMPF. After starting with the patrol boats more than 1 year ago, the cleaning stations are now marked with ropes. The divers are not allowed to go inside the area and the manta and thresher sharks can enjoy an undisturbed cleaning session.
Low season activity – Malapascua Staff tour 2011 to Biliran, Leyte
In the low season there should be also some time to get away from daily business and diving. The Sea Explorers Malapascua Team started 6 am for a day trip to Biliran area in Leyte. Two hours away by banka boat from Malapascua and you get an amazing landscape with rice terraces and waterfalls. With lots of food and beers on board everybody had a great time. This tour will be offered as well to our guests in the future.
Back to the roots. Almost by coincidence Hervé, our service and quality manager, got again in touch with his former occupation. He had the opportunity, together with the French ambassador and the consul, to fly by helicopter from Cebu to Dumaguete. Hervé was in his younger ages a helicopter mechanic in the French army.
