All kids are half Filippino half European or Swiss
“Independence Day” of JR. On August 12 JR Heim could celebrate his 21th birthday which means in the Philippines that he is now considered as an adult. On the same day our friend Friedel celebrated his 54th birthday together with his friends in Pura Vida. Happy birthday and all the best and good health to the celebrants!
On August 11 all the branch managers and the Sea Explorers management met in Pura Vida to prepare for the new high season. First part of the agenda was the viewing of the new safari boat “DAKO” and as well the new facility of the maintenance-, quality-, service and human resource-department under the supervision of Hervé Jain.
July 2010
Good news from Malapascua: The new equipment rooms and the washing area are finished. Our regular customers might have seen this kind of washing basins somewhere else before….
The Sea Explorers Cebu Head Office team enjoyed already for the 4th time the Swiss National Fest in Marco Polo Hotel. A delicious Swiss buffet offered specialties like the cheese fondue and raclette as well as Zurich Geschnetzeltes, Roesti and so on. Definitely the 3 share holders didn’t win the yodeling contest probably due to lack of training.
Middle of July Chris traveled short to Hongkong to participate at the Diving Resort Travel Fair. He was supported once again from our longtime friend Becky, thanks a lot for your help! As usual an event like that is always good to meet some old time friends like Danny Dwyer of PADI Asia Pacific.
World championship fever even under water!
June 2010

May 2010
The newest pictures of Fredy Brauchli (still taken with his analog Nikon RS) of his stay with us last April/May:
‘Ocean Vida’ is currently being built and will be located at a 1st class spot directly at the white Bounty Beach, just next to the Sea Explorers dive center. The 12 comfortable beachfront deluxe rooms with aircon and fan as well as cold/hot shower will all have a balcony or terrace. Furthermore, a small restaurant/bar will be available. If everything goes according to the plan, the resort will be opened as of January 2011. Reservations for 2011 can be done already.
We hope to welcome you soon in the Philippines. Dive with a smile!
The Sea Explorers special trip ‘Tubbataha Reef’ on the liveaboard S/Y Philippine Siren from 18 – 30 May 2010 was an absolute amazing and unforgettable dive trip for all. First class facilities, fantastic underwater world with sensational weather and diving conditions, great and happy participants. Many thanks to all of you, it was awesome!

Our Japanese Group on Malapascua was really lucky with their dives at Monad Shoal. Thresher Sharks and Manta Rays getting cleaned together in the same cleaning station is a rare thing to see. They got a lot of great photos. Photos taken by Sonoka Sasagawa.
Chris visits Malapascua and enjoys during daytime the white beaches around the island. In the evening he supports our Sea Explorers basketball team at the tournament.
Nice article (only in German) from our guest Angelika Woelke about diving in the Philippines with Sea Explorers (article published in Westdeutschen Allgemeinen Zeitung (WAZ), der neuen Ruhrzeitung (NRZ), der Westfalenpost und der Westfälischen Rundschau)
1st birthday of Ellah - Happy Birthday!
Our regular guest, the Finnish Offroad World Champion Mika Ahola, in action. Soon he will take part at the World Championship, that will begin in two weeks in Spain and will go on in Portugal. All the best Mika! (By the way, can you find the Sea Explorers logo on his jersery? )
Janis (child of Sven & Fabienne, dive center managers in Malapascua) and Nivea (child of Martin, Dive Guide Malapascua), both are in good health and both like each other!
February 2010
Brilliant success for Sea Explorers - We were officially nominated for the Tauchen Award 2009 and barely missed the first place. Thanks to all who voted for us. Again this year we will give our best to improve steadily the services for our guests. Dive with a smile! (picture: PADI Event boot Duesseldorf)
Successful Fairs 2010 with Sea Explorers
All the fairs in Europe where we were part of the game (boot Duesseldorf, FESPO Zuerich, Salon de la Plongee Paris and Duikvaker Netherlands) were very successful. The high demand in our unique island hopping and the dive safaris as well as the IDC courses make us feel positive for the future. We hope to welcome many people this year again. See you soon! Pictures: Special thanks to Tina, Linda, Andreas, Jesus, Stefan and Rene (not on the pictures) for the extraordinary support at our booths. Great job!
New massage and Spa facilities in Pura Vida. In addition to our previous services in Vida Spa there are now also new air conditioned massage room, a steam bath and a sauna available to relax after diving.

Beginning of January another Sea Explorers manager meeting took place in Cebu City to prepare the coming busy months.
January 2010
Like every year on the third weekend in January the Sinulog Festival was celebrated in Cebu City. The highlight of course the very colorful parade on Sunday. For more pictures please click here:
Picture of the month of January
A tiny hermit crab on dangerous ground, on a stone fish’s head. The picture was taken by Urs Frei on January 2 in Apo Island at Rock Point.
Please see one of the most amazing sea slugs, the “Melibe”, on this short video. It was taken by Rolf Muehlemann last December in San Miguel, Dauin:
Rare species again in Dauin in December Halimeda-Ghostpipefish (Solenostomus halimeda) and Bluering Octopus. The pictures were taken by Matthias Rueger who did the Divemaster and Instructor education with us.
